2. Ocean Quahog

Next on our list of the longest-living animals is the ocean quahog. It even holds the title of oldest animal in the world, so here’s a fact that you may want to remember so you can impress your friends and acquaintances.

In 2013, the ocean quahog clams broke the Guinness World Record when researchers reexamined the age marks found in the quahog’s valves and placed the clam at 507 years old!

The oldest animal in the world was discovered in 2006 when experts captured around 200 other ocean quahogs to study their lifespans. They named it “Ming”, as it’s thought the clam came into existence during the Ming Dynasty in China, which ruled from 1369 to 1644.
