Natural spaces are disappearing and wildlife populations are declining as our contemporary culture demands more resources. According to the WWF’s 2022 Living Planet Report, worldwide animal populations have declined by 69% on average since 1970.
While there have been incredible and inspiring wildlife stories in the past, many species are currently at risk of extinction, primarily as a result of unsustainable human-led activities. More than 41,000 species are currently listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) red list.
This is a list of the most endangered animals that have a very high chance of going extinct during our lifetimes.
