#8 Wellness Plans
The majority of pet insurance policies do not cover the expense of normal care, even if they cover your pet’s emergency care needs. Another thing you might use to cover this cost is a wellness plan.
The wellness plan is not the same thing as insurance. The wellness plan serves as a planning tool for your budget so that you can prepare for regular veterinary care expenses. You contribute modest sums of money each month to a pool, and then use that money to pay for all of your pet’s regular care requirements, including exams, vaccinations, dental checkups, and various lab tests.
Wellness programs are frequently available as an add-on for a cost with a pet health insurance policy. Some vets also provide what they refer to as “preventive care packages.” These packages offer all preventive services at a discounted rate and group them all together.
Spreading out the payments over the course of the year or, in some situations, paying the entire sum in one go can result in even greater savings.
