#4 The Box Jellyfish
A type of poisonous jellyfish called the Box Jellyfish inhabits the oceans off of Northern Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Philippines. It’s one of the most venomous animals on earth, and humans are likely to die from its venom. Toxins contained in the Box Jellyfish venom harm the heart, skin cells, and nerves.
Its stings can result in death, heart failure, extreme pain, cramping, and muscle spasms. If untreated, the venom can induce cardiac arrest and cause skin burns that result in the destruction of skin cells.
Wearing protective clothing, such as a full-body suit or stinger suit, and avoiding swimming in places where jellyfish are known to be active are the best ways to prevent getting stung.
In the event of a sting, it’s essential to remove any tentacles that could still be clinging to the skin, wash the area with vinegar to dispel the venom, and submerge the injured region in hot water (as hot as the individual can stand but not scorching) to help ease the pain. You absolutely must get medical help as soon as you can.
