#6 Alligator

If your average chinchilla or lizard isn’t cutting it, you can just go big in Alaska—literally! The frozen North State allows you to bring a gator pet into your home today without any further restrictions. On the other hand, alligators are only allowed in Florida and Louisiana with a permit.

Pet owners adore baby alligators, which are about a foot long and virtually harmless. Adults, on the other hand, can grow to be more than 11 feet long, weigh 1,000 pounds, and live for up to 50 years, based on the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute. Furthermore, their ravenous appetite is nearly bottomless, and pet owners can be viewed as tasty meals.

Aside from the fact that after they reach the adult stage gators are very dangerous wild creatures that can unalive you in seconds, another challenge about owning them as a pet is the fact that they are cold-blooded reptiles. That means you have to assure them of a proper environment with a lot of bright light that can help them regulate their temperature. And now if we think about it, this might be pretty hard to achieve in Alaska.
