Boxer
Next on the list of great therapy dogs for seniors are boxers. Boxers definitely exhibit a couple of traits you might be looking for in a service dog.
They are big enough to perform physical tasks, and they’re still small enough to navigate crowded locations. Boxers are also good-natured dogs who are not only incredibly friendly with adults; they are also very good with children.
They have very high energy levels, such as Labradors and golden retrievers, so you might need to provide them with enough time to exercise.
That being said, they might actually adapt very well to apartments and smaller homes.
Great Dane
Great Danes are very well-suited for service tasks, particularly because of their immense size and strength.
They are wonderful mobility assistance dogs because they can be quite helpful, especially for owners who need some help standing and keeping their balance. They are also good service animals for people who might need emotional support because they are very calm and have a reassuring demeanor.
Great Danes are very friendly with strangers, too, but here’s the catch: they will always remain focused on their owner. Great Danes can drool a bit, so some of you might not be happy with this breed.
