#5 Lhasa Apso
The main condition that affects this breed is polycystic kidney disease. If left untreated, lhasas may develop more serious renal issues. The good news is that your pup is not in danger, since vets can identify enlarged or diseased kidneys through a simple physical exam.
Because their eyes aren’t well lubricated, Lhasa apsos with dry eyes experience inflammation of the cornea and nearby tissue. A yellowish discharge, squinting, and red, irritated eyes are all signs of dry eye. Dogs with dry eyes will always need to take medication and nutrients because it is a lifelong condition. A gentle eye cleaning and prescriptions to increase tear production may be part of the treatment.
