1. Dalmatian

Let’s get started with a quick fact-check. You probably know them from the famous Disney movie “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.” They are athletic, they are cute, and they are playful, but did you know that they are not born with their trademark spots? Yep, these pups are completely white, and they start developing spots only two weeks later.

Now, we are going to ask you a question. When you think of Dalmatians, does the thought of a fire department immediately pop into your mind? If you answered “yes,” do you think that this is a little bit strange? Actually, there is a logical explanation for all of this. During the 19th century, they were used as a “siren” that alerted people that firefighters were on their way. Because of this, the Dalmatian became the mascot of the New York Fire Department.

This breed loves to spend time with their owners, but because they have a lot of energy, they might not be suitable for families with young kids. In terms of health, Dalmatians are known to be prone to developing urine stones. In order to avoid this, always feed your pup low-purine food.
