#5 Red-lipped batfish

Yes, this is a real fish and not just something someone generated with a computer. This fish, also known by the name “weird-looking fish” (which is very accurate if you ask us), is real and lives around the Galapagos Islands, in the Pacific Ocean.

Despite their most striking feature being the fact that they do have a red ring around their mouth, which makes them look like they are wearing lipstick, people have named them batfish because they say their features are similar. There are quite a few pictures of these fish, so we are going to take the expert’s word for it.

They come in a variety of colors, ranging from grey to light brown, but they all have a striking pair of red lips, making them easy to identify.

The most remarkable thing about them is not their facial features but the fact that, despite living on the bottom of the sea, these fish are horrible swimmers, so instead they just walk on the ocean floor.
