7 Perfectly-Timed Photos Proving The Power of Mother Nature

#7 Irrawaddy Dolphin

You may be asking yourself why is there a dolphin on our list of mother nature surprises. Well, the Irrawaddy dolphin is no usual creature and the fact that there are less than 100 of them existing on this earth (just 92) might just tip you off of why they are so important.

The Irrawaddy dolphin is very different from the other dolphins we are used to seeing, especially if you take a closer look at its head. They have a very short beak, almost impossible to differentiate from their forehead, with around 12 to 19 teeth on each side of their jaw.

Their most striking feature is their huge round forehead and this is what gives them their special appearance. Another cool thing about them is that they can live both in saltwater and freshwater and they can get absolutely massive: they can reach 400 pounds and 8 feet in length!

These amazing and incredibly rare creatures are very slow swimmers and if you find yourself around the bay areas of Bengal or around estuaries or rivers in Southeast Asia you may be lucky enough to spot one of them!

Unfortunately, the world is always changing and we also play a part in it! Here are some of the most beautiful extinct animals we wish we could still have around today!
