Jellyfish

Box jellyfish are known all over the world to be the deadliest jellyfish, as their venomous stingers can easily make a person go into shock or even have an instant heart attack.

They’re very clear, which makes it more difficult to spot them in the ocean, and they can become very big (up to 10 feet long).

While there haven’t been any deaths reported from jellyfish in Florida, there are around 40 reported deaths a year all over the world.

There are many other jellyfish species that are way less venomous, but they still have a very painful sting. Back in 2018, on only a couple of days, 800 people were stung by jellyfish along the central Florida coast, as a very large group of moon jellyfish showed up.

In fact, a spokesperson even mentioned that once or twice a year, there’s a very high incidence of jellyfish, which is mainly the fault of powerful currents.
