Sharks

The Great White shark lives off the coast of Florida, and it can be found in the Atlantic and the Gulf.

Shark attacks are extremely rare, but given the number of beaches in Florida and all the beachgoers, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this state has the highest number of shark attacks in America.

In 2020, Florida had 16 cases of shark bites, and Hawaii came in second place with 5. Even more, half of the attacks were registered in Volusia County. Most often sharks will attack surfers, thinking they are seals.

In 2021, there have been only 11 shark-related fatalities. So as the stats are showing, it’s highly unlikely to die from a shark.
