#6 Lyrebirds
Despite the fact that this bird seems like something out of an animated series with its interestingly shaped tail feathers, it is actually real. Lyrebirds, who get their name from the fact that their tails remind people of the lyre, are tree-dwelling birds that can be found in Australia!
Lyrebirds are classified into two species: Albert’s lyrebird and Superb lyrebird. They are very similar but differ in plumage, and Albert’s lyrebird is known to lack the Superb lyrebird’s impressive plumage and distinctive song.
Despite this, this bird with such peculiar tails is known for its mimicry abilities, as it can mimic sounds and even words it hears to a T! The most common sounds they are known for are car alarms, crying babies, chainsaws, various ringtones, camera shutters, and even a few words!
If you visit New South Wales or the rainforest in Queensland, do not get alarmed if you hear any of these sounds! You may just be hearing a lyrebird!
