Next on our list of human foods that are toxic for dogs are macadamia nuts. They are a great and healthy snack for you, but not for your canine friend.
What most dog owners don’t know is what these nuts can do to the inside of their pets. Theoretically, when consumed in very large amounts, macadamia nuts can be fatal for dogs, making them some of the worst human foods that are toxic for dogs. However, no deaths have been reported as of yet.
What could result if a dog eats macadamia nuts is a severe illness. According to experts, when a dog eats a macadamia nut, it’s basically poisoned. It will likely show symptoms such as vomiting, muscle contractions and shakes, a spike in heart rate, elevated body temperature, and even paralysis.
A subtle but no less alarming symptom of macadamia nut toxicity in dogs is the development of arthralgia (joint pain) and recumbency (inability for the dog to stand).
