7. Constantly craving food
There are many instances when dogs act hungry when, in reality, they are not. And we are used to that. You want to open a bag of chips, and in the blink of an eye, they are at your feet begging with their puppy eyes. Classic.
But if you notice that your dog is eating more than it used to for a longer period of time, this is a clear sign that something might be wrong. Polyphagia, or excessive eating, can be a symptom of diabetes mellitus. This happens because of the insulin imbalance. The body of the dog can’t perceive the level of glucose; it thinks that there is none, and as a result, your pup will think it’s starving.
