Sea Mink

Sea minks were adorable because they looked like oversized water squirrels. There isn’t very much information about the vanished animal known as the sea mink. But researchers believe that they lived a long time ago along the Eastern Coast of North America around New Brunswick and New England.

Data suggests that they were also more significant than their cousin, the American mink, and had red-colored fur. In fact, this is what led to their extinction. Native Americans and fur traders targeted the sea mink for its valuable fur.

They were among the most popular animals during the fur trade, leading to their eventual demise. By 1860, this extinct animal had almost completely disappeared from the globe. Hunters killed the last sea mink in New Brunswick around 1894.
