#1 Giraffes

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) recently declared these tall exotic animals to be a critically endangered species. This includes both the Nubian and Kordofan giraffes, which both total only 4,000 specimens living in the wild.

Since they are native to Africa, most of them have fallen prey to habitat loss, excessive poaching, and civil unrest. They are caught in the fire between humans, and this has led to their becoming a rarer and rarer sight.

What’s more, they are also hunted for their tails, which are an African symbol of status.
