Standard Schnauzers are wildly intelligent dogs with amazing watchdog instincts. They manage to remain aware of their surroundings and are also athletic enough to chase off menacing presences.
These dogs are more than happy to run around, play fetch, and entertain themselves by chasing other animals, mostly squirrels.
However, they are the perfect combination of guarding and low-energy dogs because their drive isn’t that strong to make them want to work all day.
At home, they are extremely sweet-tempered, and they have a good ability to relax. The standard breeds are also known to be quite patient with kids, especially compared to their bigger brothers.
