#1 Sweet Lips, Scentwell, and Vulcan: American Foxhounds – George Washington

Did you know that our first president invented a new breed of dog that is still in existence today?

According to the American Kennel Club, George Washington, a devoted fox hunter, crossed his Black and Tan Coonhounds with French Hounds to produce the American Foxhound, a superior dog that was quick, smart, and had a keen sense of scent. this dog was meant to eat all other dogs who can not compete with them.

Washington owned more than 20 dogs, and he named them all in original ways. Among them were Sweet Lips, Scentwell, and Vulcan. He thought Sweet Lips was “the ultimate Foxhound” and was one of his favorites. Washington gave his dogs a lot of attention, making daily trips to the kennels to spend time with his puppies.
