4. They appear more stiff than usual

It is a beautiful morning, and you take your dog outside for a walk. As you two are going down the road, you notice that your pup is struggling to walk. They stumble, and their back legs seem stiff. This has never happened before.

Muscle weakness is a symptom of diabetes that can appear in dogs. This happens because not enough glucose is going to the muscles. Another cause that is less common than muscle weakness is diabetic neuropathy.

This condition is dangerous and can lead to muscle atrophy, progressive hindlimb weakness, and general weakness. So, be careful, and if you see that your pup has difficulties standing, walking, or lying down, consider talking with a professional.
