8 Rare Dog Breeds You Won’t Believe Are Real

#3 Azawakh

The Azawakh first appeared in West Africa as long ago as 8,000 years ago, despite occasionally being confused with more common sighthound breeds like the Italian greyhound and whippet. The breed’s slender yet robust musculature is always clearly visible beneath its fine and gorgeous coat, which can take on a variety of color combinations.

This uncommon dog breed, which was developed as hunting dogs, sets itself apart from other sighthounds with its unwavering devotion to its human friends. Although they have been around for a very long time, it wasn’t until the 1980s that they were brought to America. Even then, the AKC wouldn’t recognize this noble and lovely breed until 2018.
