#5 Basking Shark (40.25 Feet)

According to what we know, the basking shark is the second-largest fish in the ocean today. The largest one ever recorded was almost 40 feet long, or around the length of a school bus. They can weigh anywhere from 8,500 pounds to even more than that, which is even more astounding.

The huge snout of the basking shark, which is usually seen sticking out toward the water’s surface, is one of its most distinguishing characteristics. This snout is lined with thousands of tiny, delicate teeth that it uses to filter plankton, fish eggs, and larvae from the ocean.

Basking sharks are peaceful giants that don’t threaten people despite their enormous size. They are actually thought to be friendly filter feeders who are more concerned with interacting with their food than with people.
