5. Iowa

Iowa doesn’t care enough for its dogs, and this can be easily seen in the high number of crimes against animals that are committed every day on its territory.

The Hawkeye State doesn’t have strong animal protection laws, and those who abuse animals usually escape without any penalty. The business of breeding and selling dogs is booming. There are numerous puppy mills in Iowa, and their sole purpose is to make money from selling pedigree dogs without thinking about the conditions in which these animals are kept.

Most of the time, they live in unsafe and inhumane conditions, and the law isn’t protecting them in any way. Many times the people who are behind these businesses are caught, but unfortunately, they will face minimum charges or no charges at all.

Likewise, in Idaho, in Iowa, canine brucellosis is also common and can affect dogs, destroying their reproductive systems and leaving them infertile.

Also, the weather is not the best because the winters are very cold, which can be bad for your canine friend.
