3. Bernese mountain dog

Next on our list of dog breeds created by humans is the Bernese mountain dog. An adorable companion, this animal is more than its beautiful appearance and affectionate nature.

The Bernese mountain dog was developed for hard work. They were bred to guard farmyards from predators and drive cattle, and they were admired for their strong ability to pull many times their own weight as drafting dogs.

A hardy dog who thrives in cold weather, the Bernese’s brawn and brain helped him multitask on the pastures and farms of Switzerland. These dogs get along with the entire family and are very gentle with children. They will often become more attached to one lucky member of the family.
