3. Giant Schnauzer

The name might make you think that this pup is another giant like the Tibetan mastiff, but this is not the case. This adorable breed is a big boy only when compared to other Schnauzers. When they are adults, these dogs can weigh between 55 and 80 pounds.

They are very active and will never say no to some running and playing. In general, they need 4 cups of food per day. If you try to calculate this, it means that you will spend around $400 on food and $300 on treats per year.

In the first year, you will need to vaccinate and train your pup, add some unexpected expenses, and the total cost will be about $6000. Now, don’t panic, because this is only for the first year. After that, the costs will be lower.

For this breed, grooming is essential. Their coat is double-layered, and because of this, they need regular professional grooming. Their fur should be hand stripped every six months, and that will cost some money.

The good part is that they are relatively healthy, so there are fewer vet visits to pay for. They still have some specific health problems, like thyroiditis and joint problems, but you don’t need to worry about them as much as you would about other breeds.
