Ammonia

Unfortunately, ammonia is one of the most popular ingredients in a lot of cleaning products, as it is very effective. You can find it in many types of degreasers, including drain, oven, and floor cleaners, as well as most multi-surface cleaning products.

They are also very often used as ingredients in cleaners made to remove stains, and unfortunately, we all own at least one product that contains ammonia. However, it is highly toxic to pets of all kinds, as it causes severe irritations to their eyes and skin, along with burns in the throat, stomach, and nose if they happen to lick the substance!

Another problem with ammonia is that, since it is a degreaser, it attacks the mucous membrane in the lungs and can lead to asthma. What’s more, if it happens to be mixed with bleach, it will produce a toxic gas that can poison and kill small animals.

Like with bleach, if you have to use them, make sure that your pet is far away from the room and that they are only allowed inside after everything is dry and you have opened a window to let the air out.

Otherwise, consider using all-natural cleaning solutions, which may be more expensive, but they are safer for your furry friend!
