#4 Colorado (Cougars)

Even though cougar attacks aren’t very frequent, this big cat is probably the hardest to avoid from all of the state’s dangerous animals. There have been two documented cases of Colorado cougars killing people in the past 100 years. One of them was a jogger who was attacked in the hills of Idaho Springs, Colorado, in 1991.

The best thing you can do to protect yourself from cougar attacks is to avoid them. Yet, if you end up attacked by one you should try to fight back in any way possible. People have stopped attacks using sticks, their bare hands, and even gardening tools.
