2. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

If you want a dog that is not very big and will look like a pup forever, try getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. These gentle, well-mannered, and intelligent dogs are great for seniors because they are easy to train and they love to spend their time with their owners.

Since they weigh about 11 to 18 pounds, these pups are easy to handle, and you can keep them in an apartment or a smaller home without worrying too much.

They are low-shedding, so you can lie down on your favorite couch and they will not make a mess. And be sure that your Cavalier will always want to be on your lap while you are sitting on the couch. They adore cuddling because they are affectionate and gentle.

These dogs are predisposed to some health issues, such as heart disease or ear infections, but this only occurs later in life. Likewise, they will need an occasional trip to the groomer.

If you have a backyard, you can walk your Cavalier there, and they will be more than happy!
