Only females can be pregnant.
Actually, this animal fact is not true. That is because seahorses exist, and in their lives, the male seahorses are actually the ones that will be pregnant and give birth.
Seahorses are extremely fascinating, as besides the fact that the male of the species ends up carrying the kids, they are also one of the animals that mate for life. So they will end up with the same partner for their entire lifespan.
The male seahorse has a brood pouch, where the female will deposit the eggs, leaving it up to the make to fertilize and incubate the eggs. The seahorse will be pregnant for about 45 days and then give birth to fully developed babies—just a small hoard of seahorses.
And when we say hoard, we mean it! A single seahorse father can give birth to up to 200 babies at a time, which is why they get so big while being pregnant!
And for all of us who thought that males would never understand us, know that male seahorses actually do so more than we imagine; they even have contractions during labor!
