Leonberger

Going back to the breeds that are big enough to be confused for bears, we have the Leonberger. Do not be intimidated by their appearance and stature, as this breed of dog is known for how gentle they are and for how much patience they have with both other dogs and children.

They make for an amazing family dog if you have the time to invest in training them and the space to host such a huge, fluffy dog. Their coat is known to be waterproof, and they are amazing swimmers, in part due to their webbed feet.

As a watchdog, do not be fooled by their teddy bear appearance; while they can be sweethearts towards their families, they will also protect them with their lives!
