#5 Use baking soda to remove odors

Accidents can happen to anyone at any time; this includes your cat. Maybe it dislikes the new litter that you bought and decides that your duvet is the best place, or maybe your cat refuses the litter box because you didn’t clean it properly, but one thing is sure: the smell of cat urine is very unpleasant and hard to get rid of.

Let’s say your cat peed on the bed or on the carpet. What can you do now? The first thing you have to do is apply some club soda to the area and scrub thoroughly. This is very helpful because it fights the smell that can be imprinted deep into the material’s fibers and linger there for a long time.

Secondly, after the area is dry, sprinkle some baking soda, a generous amount of it, we would say, and let it sit there for a few hours. This will definitely destroy any remaining odor, and your carpet or bed will smell even fresher than before. Now, the only thing remaining to do is remove the baking soda. For this, you have to vacuum the area, and you are done.

This method is the best one for removing bad smells, and you know what? Baking soda is not toxic for pets, which is why we recommend it.
