#6 The proper cleaning of the litter box is very important

Cats, as we all know, have the instinct to dig in the litter and bury their waste. This is natural, and all cats do it. It is their way to prevent the spreading of disease from one cat to another, and until now it has worked great.

Keeping a clean litter box is very important for your feline companion, and doing this can also help you maintain a cleaner house. If your cat is happy with the litter box, the chances of it using any area of your house as one are lower, if not even zero.

The best place to keep the litter box is somewhere outside, say on your patio or in the bathroom. If you choose the last option, be very careful when chafing the litter and clean everything thoroughly. Take out the box in order to wash it, and meanwhile, vacuum the area in order to remove any litter that can be on your floor. Some cats are kickers and can do a real mess when they are digging in the litter box.

As we said before, when cleaning, only use pet-safe cleaners. You can actually try to use baking soda if the smell is very bad. The type of litter is also important. Buy something that can easily form clumps and has good odor control. You can find a lot of types of litter out there, from clay to silica; the choice is all yours.
