The Colorpoint Shorthair has been regarded as a distinct breed since the early 1960s, per the Cat Fanciers Association. That said, it isn’t always the case. Because of their resemblance, some breeders regard this breed as simply a different shade of the Siamese. 

Colorpoint Shorthairs, one of the most headstrong cat breeds, are no strangers to getting into mischief. These cats are rebellious, not afraid to make their feelings known, and meow loudly when they don’t get their way. An unshakable loyalty to their favorite people plays a role in this. As very intelligent cats, Colorpoint Shorthair cats should also be engaged with interesting toys and games.

They are curious cats who enjoy exploring their environment and are frequently seen sitting high up in the house to watch what is happening here and there. The Colorpoint Shorthair has a strong desire for human interaction and is very attention-seeking. This can result in destructive behavior when the cat is left alone for a lengthy period of time.
