7. Ringworm

Ringworm is a fungus that affects a dog’s skin. The name of this contagious disease doesn’t come from an actual worm but from the pattern it makes. It’s important to note that, while it’s contagious, it doesn’t affect many dogs these days.

In fact, according to veterinarians, in most cases, a healthy dog won’t get ringworm, which is more often seen in puppies and dogs who already have other health issues.

This contagious disease your dog may get can lead to hairless patches of skin, often in a roughly circular shape. These lesions are usually itchy, but they can get inflamed and develop a scabby covering.
