You’re Bathing Them Wrong

We obviously want our pets to smell as fresh as possible. But using shampoos for humans that are too harsh or heavily scented can irritate your pet’s sensitive skin.

If you’re in a bind and there’s no way possible for you to get to a pet store, use baby shampoo instead. Just make sure you dilute it first, so it doesn’t sting their eyes.

That said, the most critical factor isn’t what you’re bathing with.

It’s making sure that you’re using, at the very most, lukewarm water and that you’re thoroughly rinsing all the shampoo off afterward.

Towel-drying your pet is the best way to go. But if you want to use a blow dryer, ensure you’re using the coolest setting, so your pet doesn’t overheat.

Blow dryers can cause skin burns, because a dog and cat’s skin is sensitive when wet.

Keep in mind that short-nosed dog breeds, like Bulldogs and Pugs, are even more susceptible to heat.
