8. Rabies

Most of us have heard about rabies. The good news is that the vaccination has been so effective that people aren’t as worried about this lethal disease.

What you probably didn’t know is that rabies is 100% fatal in humans. Therefore, dog owners should be really careful about that and ensure they’re keeping the animals up-to-date for rabies.

One of the hallmarks of rabies in dogs is foaming at the mouth. Other symptoms include weakness, aggression, abnormal behavior, paralysis, and/or self-mutilation.

According to experts, the contagious disease spreads through a bite from an animal that carries the disease, and dogs that are in contact with wild animals are at the highest risk.

In most states, it’s a legal requirement that all dog owners get their four-legged friends vaccinated for rabies.
