We are aware that dogs are more distant from their wild ancestors than cats. Based on where you live, you can do your own research and find out the regulations. For example, in Arkansas, bobcats are legal to keep, but only up to six, and they can be kept only with a permit and in a suitable habitat. The bobcat must have been raised in captivity for Michigan to permit you to adopt one. 

Keep in mind that wild cats are so named for a reason. If you want to own one, be ready for a challenge. These cats have sharp fangs and powerful claws, and they are usually unpredictable. Their instincts and behaviors are not suitable for living in captivity.

The bobcat’s diet might also be a problem since it should mimic the one that they have in their natural environment. So be ready to go hunting because they are carnivorous animals and they usually eat small mammals such as rodents, rabbits, and squirrels. 

Sure, there are some commercial options available, but these formulas are not always the best, which can lead to health issues.
